Featured Project: Make Robot
As summer stretches before us with seemingly endless days of sipping cold drinks in the sun or swimming at the lake, what better time to pick up a new, geeky craft? Cross stitch is a type of needlework that should be taken literally: you are simply stitching crosses using embroidery thread into often fun (and geeky) designs. Experienced stitcher? Great! Absolute beginner? All our CraftGeeks kits come with easy to follow instructions to get you started with cross stitch. We’re also planning on making video tutorials in the future. If you have any questions, feel free to email us.
One of our most popular cross stitch kit patterns at this year’s Maker Faire was our “Make” Robot. (Read more about Maker Faire here.) Combining craftiness with tech, this cute bot is simple enough for a beginner to follow but a fun project for those experienced with cross stitch. The Make Robot is the perfect project to carry you through a long summer afternoon (or a few).
Once your Make Robot is completed, how you decide to display it is up to you. Creating magnets, framing pieces, making cards, and stitching pillows are just a few of the ways to show off your work. Comment below with your ideas on how you show off your cross stitch!
